London Mavericks head to Brighton Centre
London Mavericks are heading to the Brighton Centre for a first-ever Netball Super League showdown on the south coast!
On Sunday 6th April 2025, London Mavericks will bring the high-octane action of the Netball Super League (NSL) to the Brighton Centre for the very first time, when they take on the Birmingham Panthers (Centre Pass at 4pm).This will provide one of the first opportunities for netball fans to see two of the NSL’s new teams in action following the League’s relaunch.
In 2025, the Netball Super League will embark on a new era of professionalisation in which it has committed to hosting 50% of NSL matches at arena venues to increase attendances, welcome new fans to the sport and grow the game nationwide.
Having already announced home games at the Hertfordshire Sports Village (HSV), Ovo Arena Wembley and The Brentwood Centre, London Mavericks are thrilled to add the Brighton Centre to their match day locations as part of their drive to make their NSL games accessible to as many netball communities as possible.
After regular home venues were unavailable, the club was determined to find another iconic venue in an area with a rich netball history to host their match against Birmingham Panthers. The Brighton Centre fixture will bring NSL action to fans in the south of England who may not otherwise have had an opportunity to experience a live game. The match has the potential to attract one of the biggest attendances of the season with room for 3,000 fans and an exciting line-up of off court entertainment for family and friends to enjoy.
Supporters will be able to book tickets to the Brighton Centre fixture when the ‘Priority Window’ opens on 28th November. Fans who book during this window, which runs until 12th December, will be rewarded with a 15% discount.
Tickets will go on general sale at standard prices in the new year.
Mikki Austin, Assistant Coach for the London Mavericks, and former Surrey Storm Head Coach said: “I’m beyond excited that London Mavericks will be playing in the South. After the end of Surrey Storm within the Netball Super League, it’s so important to be able to bring a game to the Brighton Centre and to fans within the south region who are currently trying to figure out their travel plans to get to watch a live NSL match. I’m ecstatic that we’re making it possible for the south’s community of fans and local clubs to experience NSL action. It’s going to be an unforgettable match, and I can’t wait to see the stands packed with familiar faces and new fans alike!”
Camilla Buchanan, Head Coach for the London Mavericks, added: “We couldn’t be more excited to bring netball to the Brighton Centre. Who wouldn’t want to experience world-class netball just a stone’s throw from the beach? Our vision has always been to reach more communities, and this is a fantastic opportunity for fans to see us compete on a huge stage with an incredible crowd, and to bring netball to the wonderful South. We can’t wait to make it unforgettable!”
Tamsin Greenway, Director of Netball for the London Mavericks, said: “The South has always felt like a home from home to me. I spent more than 11 years playing for Surrey Storm and Team Bath. I have so many incredible memories of these clubs, the fans, the matchdays, and of course winning the Super League! The South and South East have some of the strongest netball communities in the country and we believe that bringing the Netball Super League games to as many people as possible is the right thing to do.”
London Mavericks have put plans in place to ensure their loyal fans across the East region can join them for the big day in Brighton. The club will roll out Mavericks Fan Buses from their traditional base at the Hertfordshire Sports Village, on which fans will be joined by London Mavericks’ NXT Gen League Players.
Two players who have already enjoyed their first taste of the British seaside are London Mavericks’ goal shooter Emily Andrew and goal defence Chelsea Blackman. When the NSL’s new Australian recruits headed to Brighton this week, it’s safe to say that fish and chips on the beach rated much more highly than the weather.
Chelsea Blackman said: “The weather has definitely been an adjustment. Even today, the sun shining over Brighton made everything look beautiful, but it’s still freezing! This place is incredibly picturesque and we’ve visited some amazing spots. Mavericks fans are in for a treat in April, with stunning scenery and some top-quality netball to enjoy. We’re already excited to return and feel the energy of the crowd as they cheer us on!”
