Luka Doncic is gearing up to represent Slovenia at the prestigious EuroBasket competition and he is setting out the teams goals.
Doncic made it clear that he wants to medal at EuroBasket and also made sure to note he isn’t the team’s only leader when he spoke to the media.
“Our goal is always a medal,” Doncic said. “But I am not the only leader. I have the feeling that others also have a say. If you have only one leader on the team, you will not get anything done. You have to have several leaders.”
Everyone will be eager to see how Luka performs for his home country, starting with the preparation game against Germany on Friday.
German captain Dennis Schroder was sure to give Doncic his flowers.
“He’s one of the best players in the world, who can score endlessly, but also has the IQ for the game and always makes the right decisions,” Schroder said via Spox.
He added, “Doncic is ‘a fierce competitor who always wants to win.’”
Of course, the media couldn’t resists asking him what his secret to losing 31 pounds has been.
“I get this question all the time. I think I was a good player before, too,” he said. “What drove me? Basically, we made a slightly different training plan. Well, I had a little more time. Last summer was really tiring. I played until June, then the national team, so there was no energy. This year I had more time.”
