Luka Doncic house break-in details: What to know about burglary of Mavericks star’s home and police investigation
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is the latest victim of a series of home burglaries targeting high-profile professional athletes.

Doncic’s home was broken into and burglarized on Friday, Dec. 27 while he and the Mavericks were in Phoenix to face the Suns. $30,000 worth of jewelry was stolen, according to police documents obtained by the Dallas Morning News.

Here are the details surrounding the break-in at Doncic’s home.

Luka Doncic house break-in details

Doncic has a residence in Preston Hollow, a neighborhood in North Dallas. It is less than 10 miles away from the American Airlines Center, where the Mavericks play home games.

The break-in occurred between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET on Friday, Dec. 27. Doncic and the Mavericks left Dallas to begin a four-game road trip on Thursday, Dec. 26 and were playing in Phoenix during the reported time of the crime.

There was no one at home at the time of the burglary, and Doncic and his family are safe. The Dallas Police Department’s crime scene team was alerted of the burglary. The department has now conducted an ongoing investigation.

What did Luka Doncic say about the break-in?

Doncic is inactive with a calf injury and has not spoken with the media. His business manager issued the following statement:

No one was home at the time, and thankfully Luka and his family are safe. Luka has filed a police report and an investigation is ongoing.

An NBA spokesperson provided this statement to the Dallas Morning News:

We are thankful that Luka and his family were not at home at the time of the burglary and are safe. This trend of targeted burglaries is unsettling to all of us. The NBA’s security department is working closely with our teams and the players association along with federal and local authorities to provide our full support and assistance. The safety of our players and their families is of paramount importance to us.

NBA house break-ins 2024

The break-in at Doncic’s home is the most recent instance of NBA players having their homes burglarized. Just this season, Bucks forward Bobby Portis and Timberwolves guard Mike Conley Jr. have had their homes broken into.

In response, the league sent a memo urging players to strengthen their home security.

While not in the NBA, Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin had his home broken into, though it is unclear if anything was stolen.

It is unclear if these break-ins — and break-ins impacting NFL players — are connected.

Where does Luka Doncic live?

Doncic lives in Preston Hollow, an area in the northern part of Dallas. The neighborhood is about eight miles north of the American Airlines Center.

Luka Doncic house value

Doncic’s home is a four-bedroom, 5,225-square-foot home in Preston Hollow. It is believed to be worth around $2.7 million.

Luka Doncic net worth

Doncic’s net worth is $58 million as of October, according to Forbes. He is in the third season of a five-year, $215 million contract extension he signed with the Mavericks.

Doncic also has various endorsements, including a signature shoe deal with Jordan Brand.
