Luka Doncic was not present at the Mavs’ second day of training camp in Las Vegas due to a calf injury, as announced by the team.
The team revealed that Doncic’s absence was a result of a left calf contusion he suffered during workouts, and he will undergo re-evaluation in one week.
The Dallas Mavericks announced today that Mavericks guard Luka Dončić sustained a hit during workouts this week resulting in a left calf contusion.
Dončić will be re-evaluated as necessary in one week.

“He got hit in the calf,” Mavericks coach Jason Kidd explained. “Reported it tight yesterday so they went and got an MRI. We’ll reevaluate him in a week and see where he stands.”
Kidd added, “There’s no concern at this point about his availability. We’ll see how he feels in a week.”
Despite no immediate concern, this setback is not an ideal start to the preseason for the Mavs’ key offensive player.
Doncic has previously dealt with calf injuries in past preseasons, including a similar incident a year ago.
He was on a minutes restriction during an exhibition game against Real Madrid and for the rest of the preseason as a precaution.
Fortunately, the issue did not carry over into the regular season as Doncic was able to play in the season opener against the Spurs, where he delivered a 30-point triple-double in the Mavs’ victory.
Luka had previously injured the same calf in the final game of the 2021-22 regular season, causing him to miss the first three games of the playoff series against Utah.
His re-evaluation is scheduled for Oct. 9, just before the Mavericks face the Jazz in their second preseason game.
