Luke Shaw’s future at Manchester United may be uncertain due to his frustration with life at Old Trafford.
Manager Ruben Amorim has been cautious with Shaw’s return to action after a long-term injury, as he does not want to risk aggravating the injury and causing a setback.
Despite making a substitute appearance in the recent 4-0 win over Everton, Shaw’s playing time has been limited since his recovery.
Shaw played 30 minutes against Bodø/Glimt in the Europa League and 34 minutes against Ipswich Town in Amorim’s first match as manager. Amorim has acknowledged Shaw’s frustration with his limited playing time and discussed the player’s future role at the club.
“Luke Shaw wants more playing time, but we need to rotate the team,” Amorim stated, emphasizing that Shaw will not automatically be a guaranteed starter as before.
“We may have a different system in the future, with a more defined starting lineup,” Amorim added, suggesting that team selection is not set in stone.
According to Caughtoffside, Shaw’s future at Man United is uncertain due to transfer rumors linking other left-backs to the club.
Players like Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell and Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies have been mentioned as potential replacements for Shaw. Former United player Alvaro Carreras is also rumored to be returning to the club from Benfica.
Shaw has been a reliable defender for United when healthy, but his career has been marred by injuries. This has led to the need for alternatives, especially as Shaw is now 29 years old. Amorim may be looking towards younger players for a long-term solution.
While Shaw’s consistency is valuable, planning for the future may involve considering younger options alongside him.
