Lynx Guard Kayla McBride Named Replacement Player for 2025 AT&T WNBA All-Star

Tue, Jul 15, 2025, 5:00 PM

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The WNBA announced this morning that Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride has been named by WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert to replace injured Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard on Team Collier in the 2025 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game. This will be the second time McBride has been selected as an All-Star as a member of the Lynx and the fifth time in her career.

McBride joins Lynx teammates Napheesa Collier and Courtney Williams as a member of Team Collier, led by Minnesota Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations, Cheryl Reeve. This marks the seventh time in franchise history that three or more Lynx players have been named to the All-Star Game in the same season and first since 2019 (Collier, Sylvia Fowles and Odyssey Sims).

The Erie, Pa. native is in the midst of her 12th season in the WNBA, and fifth in Minnesota where she has appeared in 19 games (all starts). This season, the guard is averaging 14.1 points on 41.3% shooting, 3.1 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 31.4 minutes per game. She ranks second in the league in three-pointers made (50) and moved into 27th all-time on the WNBA scoring leaderboard, surpassing Tangela Smith, totaling 5,103 points throughout her 11 seasons in the league.

McBride posted a season-high 29 points in Minnesota’s win over Los Angeles on June 21, shooting 71.4% from three (5-of-7) and a perfect 100% from the line (6-of-6). The contest moved her into third all-time in Lynx history for number of games played with five or more made three-point baskets (12).

The 2025 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game is slated to be played on Saturday, July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana on ABC at 7:30 p.m. CT.
