Magomed Ankalaev, the current number two ranked light heavyweight challenger, is claiming that the UFC is looking to set up a fight between him and the current titleholder, Alex Pereira. He has stated that he is just waiting for Pereira to sign the bout agreement.
Ankalaev has been actively pursuing a fight with Pereira since the Brazilian’s dominant title defense at UFC 303 last month. Pereira recently scored a stunning knockout victory over Jiri Prochazka and has received several callouts, including one from Ankalaev.
Ankalaev has provided an update on the potential fight, revealing that talks are underway with UFC officials for a title bout against Pereira. Pereira has expressed his intention to defend his title in December.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Ankalaev expressed confidence in his chances against Pereira, stating that he believes it will be a relatively easy fight for him. He pointed out that Pereira has not faced any serious grapplers yet and believes he will pose a tough challenge for Pereira.
