Manchester City teenagers Lily Murphy and Codie Thomas have signed their first professional contracts with the club.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Cityzens this morning.
Both players have been rewarded after making positive starts to their Manchester City careers. Forward Murphy has made five appearances for the senior team in all competitions so far this season while full-back Thomas made her debut for The Cityzens in their recent UEFA Women’s Champions League fixture against St Pölten. The pair have big futures in the game and Manchester City have therefore moved quickly to retain their services on a professional basis.
Speaking after Murphy and Thomas signed their new deals, Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor said, “Both Codie and Lily have been a joy to work with and it’s been good to see them develop as young players. They are in a great environment with world-class players, and we will continue to push them as they start on their professional journeys.”
Murphy and Thomas follow fellow academy graduate Gracie Prior in signing professional terms with Manchester City this season. The pair will continue their development in the senior environment in the coming months.
