Manchester United are keen on signing Paris Saint-Germain sensation Desire Doue, as per reports.
United were denied a crucial first-leg win over Olympique Lyonnais, as French prodigy Rayan Cherki was quick to pounce on Andre Onana’s howler to equalise in the 95th minute.
Cherki was a nuisance for the United backline all night, underlining just what Ruben Amorim’s side lack in forward positions.
A report in Spain suggests the Red Devils are looking to sign another skilful French winger, who has set the Champions League alight with Paris Saint-Germain.
Manchester United want Desire Doue
According to Fichajes, United are preparing an offer for Doue, having “strongly renewed” their interest in the France international.
The 19-year-old was heavily linked with United during his time at Rennes, but PSG won the race for his signature, signing him for €50 million last summer.
After a slow start in the French capital, Doue has established himself as a key part of Luis Enrique’s lineup.
Most recently, he made headlines with a wonderful solo goal in his side’s win over Aston Villa on Wednesday. His fearless approach and quick feet troubled Villa all game.
The Spanish outlet claim United have set their sights on the PSG talent as they look to add a new forward to their ranks this summer.
United’s coaching staff reportedly see Doue as a player capable of making a difference. The right-footed forward has managed 12 goals and as many assists in 43 appearances in all competitions this term. He has been directly involved in six goals in the Champions League.
Doue’s ability to play on both flanks as well as through the middle is also admired, making him a “top target” for United.
Having said that, the Ligue 1 giants are very unlikely to part ways with their incredible signing just 12 months after acquiring him. As such, it is best to take the claim with a pinch of salt.
