Manchester United have completed the signing of Canadian international midfielder Simi Awujo on a three-year deal.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Red Devils this afternoon.
The 20-year-old joins Manchester United after combining her studies with playing football in the American college system for USC Trojans.
On the international stage, Awujo has 20 senior caps for Canada while she has scored one goal for her country. She has been in and around the senior squad for the last two years. Awujo has been a member of the Canadian squads that have competed at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 and at the Olympic Games this summer.
After joining Manchester United, Awujo said “To say that I’m a professional footballer for Manchester United is insane. I’m so excited for the season ahead, what the future holds here and just to be a Red Devil. I cannot wait to play in front of the great Manchester United fans.”
Awujo becomes Manchester United’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window. The Red Devils are expected to complete further business before the new Barclays Women’s Super League season begins at the end of September.
