Iasmin Lucindo is set to face Marina Rodriguez at UFC 307 on Oct. 5, in an attempt to climb the strawweight rankings. This match-up was confirmed by multiple sources following a report from Ag. Fight.
The main event and location for the show have not been officially announced by the promotion yet, but it is currently scheduled for Salt Lake City. Another fight reported for the pay-per-view card is between ex-champion Aljamain Sterling and Movsar Evloev.
After defeating former title contender Karolina Kowalkiewicz in May, Lucindo (16-5) entered the top-15 in the MMA Fighting’s Global Rankings. This was her third consecutive win in the UFC, following victories over Polyana Viana and Brogan Walker. She also received a $50,000 performance bonus for her submission win against Viana.
Rodriguez (17-4-2) had previously been on the path to a title shot with wins over Amanda Ribas, Michelle Waterson-Gomez, Mackenzie Dern, and Yan Xiaonan. However, she is now looking to bounce back from a 1-3 run since 2022, with losses to Amanda Lemos, Virna Jandiroba, and Jessica Andrade.
