Vera’s thoughts on Figueiredo
“He’s a great fighter,” Vera said. “He seems like he punches hard, seems like he’s a strong guy. He’s been utilizing a lot of his jiu-jitsu and wrestling skills lately, so maybe he feels that the power and size difference is too much. But he took down the last two opponents. Let’s see what he brings to the table. I just believe I will dominate him and send him back to flyweight.”
“It would be easy to give up and say, ‘This is not for me,’” Vera said. “But I’m extremely determined. I want to set a good example, especially for my kids, my family, and those who support me. This is a global sport or business, and you can inspire many by showing that you can come back.
“You can make changes in your life. You can rise and achieve your goals, and that’s what I’m doing right now. Why choose the easy way and stay down? Why let things slide? That’s not my style. I’m excited to showcase my skills and what I can accomplish.”
