UFC star Max Holloway has reacted to his defeat at the hands of Charles Oliveira at UFC 326.
In the main event of UFC 326 last night, Charles Oliveira dominated Max Holloway to become the new BMF champion. It was a one-sided affair throughout the course of the fight, with the Brazilian sensation managing to get the better of ‘Blessed’ both on the feet and, crucially, on the ground.
While he didn’t submit him, Charles Oliveira did show that he was levels above Max within the grappling department. Charles will now likely move on and defend the BMF title elsewhere, but it isn’t quite clear as to what the next step is for Max, in what was easily one of the most comprehensive defeats of his career.
In his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Max Holloway provided an honest assessment of how the fight unfolded.
Max Holloway reacts to Charles Oliveira defeat
(My game plan was) just stick and move, you know?” Holloway told Joe Rogan in the octagon post-fight. “But they came with a better game plan. You’ve got to give it up for Oliveira. Hell of a fighter. True BMF. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
“I’m going to come back, whoop somebody’s ass and be right in title contention again,” Holloway said. “I ain’t done yet. I’m going to see Mr. Oliveira again, bro. That’s for sure.”

There’s no denying that Holloway is going to go back to the drawing board, figure out where he went wrong and come back stronger. Alas, given the miles he has behind him in the cage, you do have to wonder how much longer he can continue to compete at the elite level.
Either way, we’re just happy that we got to see these two legends of the game clash at this point in their respective careers. It might not have been quite as action-packed as a lot of the other BMF title fights we have seen, but Charles did what he had to do in order to neutralize the threat of Holloway, and he did it perfectly.
