Mercedes is looking to end their partnership with Lewis Hamilton on a high note as they approach the final three races of the 2024 F1 season.
Hamilton will be leaving Mercedes after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December to join Ferrari.
During his 12 seasons with Mercedes, the 39-year-old has won six of his seven titles.
Although Hamilton has claimed victory in two races for the team this year, it has been a challenging final season for the seven-time world champion.
In qualifying, Hamilton has been outperformed by George Russell, although he has had better results in races. However, the inconsistent performance of the Mercedes W15 F1 car has posed challenges for both drivers.
Before the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Toto Wolff expressed Mercedes’ determination to conclude their “incredible journey” with Hamilton on a positive note, aiming to create momentum for the upcoming season.
“We are ready to take on the final three races of the season in Las Vegas,” Wolff stated. “Our focus is on finishing the year strong and delivering more memorable moments as we wrap up 2024.
“We anticipate the upcoming races, aiming to end our remarkable partnership with Lewis on a high note and set the stage for 2025.”
Looking ahead to Las Vegas, Wolff commented: “We are thrilled to return to Las Vegas. F1 put on a fantastic show last year, with the visual spectacle of F1 cars racing down the Strip at night being a standout moment of the season. The opportunity to reach speeds of 180 mph down such an iconic location in a high-performance Mercedes-AMG GT R was one that I couldn’t pass up.
“I was fortunate enough to take some of our partners on hot laps of the track, providing an unforgettable experience for all involved.
“The circuit and weather conditions present a unique challenge for both drivers and teams, resulting in exciting racing and an engaging Grand Prix event.
“I am confident that this year’s race will be even more successful, further building on the growing interest and success of our sport in the United States.”
