The Miami Dolphins have officially re-signed veteran long-snapper Blake Ferguson to the active roster, following his recent release to provide roster flexibility. This move was made as the team finalized their 53-man roster and practice squad.
Ferguson, 27, was originally drafted by the Dolphins in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He has appeared in 67 career games for Miami, recording seven tackles and a fumble recovery on special teams.
While there may have been some criticism toward Ferguson in the past, his willingness to allow the team to release him for roster flexibility is commendable. He has proven to be the team’s most consistent long-snapper since John Denney. Love him or hate him, he is a team player, and now he is back with the Dolphins.
On the downside, the Dolphins have announced that rookie safety Patrick McMorris has been placed on the reserve/injured list. McMorris, a sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, showed promise during the preseason with nine tackles and a pass breakup. However, the new rules allow for players to be brought back from injured reserve, so this may not be the end of McMorris’ season.
