LOS ANGELES — Matchroom Chairman Eddie Hearn is opposed to the potential ring comebacks of boxing legends Manny Pacquiao and Mike Tyson.
At 45, Pacquiao recently took part in an exhibition match in Tokyo against kickboxer Rukiya Anpo, but did not look like his former self.
There are talks of Pacquiao facing Mario Barrios, who is 29 years old and holds the WBC welterweight world championship. This would mark Pacquiao’s 73rd career fight, with a significant 16-year age gap between the fighters.
Meanwhile, 58-year-old Tyson is set to fight 27-year-old Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium in November, showcasing a 31-year age difference.
Earlier this year, Hearn expressed interest in arranging a fight between his boxer Conor Benn and Pacquiao. However, after Pacquiao’s recent performance, Hearn believes it would be risky for Pacquiao to face someone like Benn.
Hearn also mentioned that the Tyson vs. Paul fight is more concerning than any potential return by Pacquiao in the near future.
