Two Minnesota Lynx front office staff are moving on to new opportunities. General Manager Clare Duwelius is transitioning to Unrivaled, the new women’s three-on-three basketball league founded by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart.
After spending 11 years with the Lynx, Duwelius will now serve as the General Manager and Executive Vice President at Unrivaled.
The Lynx are also bidding farewell to Katie Smith. Smith has been the associate head coach for the Lynx for the past two seasons, joining the team in 2020.
She is heading back to her alma mater, Ohio State University, where she will take on the role of assistant coach for the women’s basketball team. Smith had a successful college career at Ohio State, earning accolades like Freshman of the Year, Player of the Year, and three appearances on the All-Big Ten team.
Smith also played for the Lynx and was drafted in 1999 during the team’s inaugural season. She went on to win WNBA championships with the Detroit Shock in 2006 and 2008, earning the Finals MVP title in 2008.
