Two of California’s top teams will face off in the championship games of two prestigious post-holiday tournaments in the West Region. FAB 50 No. 9 Roosevelt (Eastvale, Calif.) will take on FAB 50 No. 10 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) in The Classic at Damien (La Verne, Calif.), while state No. 7 JSerra (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) will battle state No. 8 Riordan (San Francisco, Calif.) in The Holiday Classic at Torrey Pines (Del Mar, Calif.).
These matchups come after a series of post-Christmas tournaments in Southern California, with the top teams now set to compete on Monday evening, Dec. 30 in the title games. Roosevelt will face St. John Bosco in the Platinum Division of The Classic at Damien, setting up a California No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown between two top 10 FAB 50 ranked teams.
Roosevelt aims to add another holiday tournament title to their collection after winning the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas. They remain unbeaten in their latest tournament, with standout performances from New Mexico-bound Issac Williamson and Mr. Basketball USA candidate Brayden Burries. St. John Bosco also enters the title game undefeated and will provide a tough challenge for Roosevelt.
The possibility of these two teams meeting multiple times this season adds to the excitement, with potential matchups in the CIF Southern Section playoffs and CIF SoCal regional playoffs. Regardless of the outcomes, both teams have proven themselves as top contenders in California high school basketball.
