UConn women’s basketball’s impact on the WNBA is expanding to front offices. The Connecticut Sun recently promoted Morgan Tuck to general manager after serving as an assistant GM for the past two seasons. Tuck takes over for Darius Taylor, who will transition to a new role as Chief Basketball Strategist and Director of Scouting.
In a statement, Tuck expressed her honor and excitement for the new position with the Sun. She credited her various roles within the organization for preparing her for this opportunity and thanked the staff and ownership for their support. Tuck is looking forward to working with the coaching staff, players, and front office to continue pursuing the team’s first championship.
Having spent eight years with the Sun, four as a player and four in the front office, Tuck brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Despite facing knee injuries that cut her playing career short, Tuck retired in 2020 and transitioned to a front office role. She was appointed assistant GM in November 2022.
Taylor commended Tuck’s growth as a front office executive and expressed confidence in her ability to propel the organization forward. He believes Tuck will play a key role in advancing the Sun to their fullest potential.
Tuck joins Dan Padover of the Atlanta Dream as one of two UConn graduates serving as general managers in the WNBA. During her time at UConn, Tuck achieved four national championships and earned recognition as a WBCA and AP All-American in 2016.
Notably, Jennifer Rizzotti, who played at UConn from 1993-97, serves as the president of the Sun, further solidifying the Huskies’ presence in the team’s front office.
