Before I go further, I want to address why we were so late to posting this story in case you directly got to this link. Our site went through a migration along with all of the other sites on the SB Nation network. That was also the reason why we didn’t recap last night’s Mystics’ 78-64 loss to the Chicago Sky last night. It sucked not being able to write about the story while everyone else outside of our network was able to give their takes. I will elaborate more tomorrow. But no, it wasn’t because our staff were MIA, asleep behind the wheel or otherwise.
Now, back to the story. Here is what Mystics General Manager Jamila Wideman said in a press release.
We’re grateful for Slim’s contributions this season as she played a key role in our growth. We’re proud of the individual success she achieved during her time with us, including earning her first All-Star selection. This allows Slim the opportunity to join a team that is expected to contend for a championship this season.
Sykes averaged 15.4 points and 4.4 assists per game for Washington in the 2025 WNBA season, also earning her aforementioned All-Star Game appearance. She was also named the All-Defensive First Team in 2023.
Clark is a familiar face for Mystics fans. She played for the Mystics from 2021-22 but only played in 2022 due to season ending foot injury in 2021. Clark is a three-time WNBA champion with the Storm (2018, 2020) and Las Vegas Aces (2023). This season, Clark is averaging 3.5 points per game.
There’s a lot on my mind on what this move means for Washington, but I’ll write about that tomorrow. Again, I apologize for being late to the party on this one. But blame the web servers!
