There has not been a more dominant player in the opening two weeks of the WNBA season than St. Louisan Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx.
The former Incarnate Word Academy All-American has put up some eye-popping numbers in leading the Lynx to a 4-0 record to begin the season.
Through the first four games, the 6’1” Collier is averaging 29.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks a game. Her shooting splits to begin the season are also incredible as she is shooting 56 percent from the field, 53 percent from 3-point range and 93 percent from the free throw line.
Collier has already topped the 30-point mark twice this season, with both performances coming against the Connecticut Sun. In the opening game of the season, Collier had 34 points against the Sun. On Friday night, she had 33 points and 11 rebounds in a come-from-behind 76-70 victory.
Collier is beginning her sixth season in the WNBA. Last year, she led the Lynx to a berth in the WNBA championship series. She was voted the league’s Defensive Player of the Year while also earning First Team All-WNBA honors. She was also the runner-up for league Most Valuable Player behind A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces.
