WILLIAMSBURG — William & Mary women’s basketball’s Bella Nascimento has been invited to join the Brazilian National Team for a pair of high-profile exhibition matchups this week against the WNBA’s Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever.
The Brazilians matchup with the Sky will be May 2 at 8 p.m. in Baton Rouge, La. on ION Television as former LSU star, and Sky player, Angel Reese returns to her home college arena.
The game with the Fever will serve as a homecoming for Indiana star Caitlin Clark at 3 p.m. on May 4 in Iowa City, Iowa, where she played her college career. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Nascimento is coming off one of the best statistical seasons in W&M women’s hoops history to wrap her college career.
The Grafton, Mass. native led the Tribe to its first CAA title and NCAA Tournament berth in program history, averaging a team-best 16.6 points per game while earning CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors and an All-CAA Second Team selection. She posted one of the best championship game performances in CAA history, scoring 33 points with 11 rebounds in W&M’s triumph over Campbell.
The Tribe guard concluded her time in Green and Gold with the most career points for a two-year player in program history (927), the second most points in a single season (580), sixth in career scoring average (14.7) and made the most field goals ever for a W&M player in a single season this past year (230).
Nascimento also led the CAA in scoring during conference play at 17.8 points per game and scored 20-plus points a league-high 15 times.
Following the exhibitions with the Brazilian team, Nascimento will look to begin her professional career.
