Let’s start by addressing the elephant in the room. With the 2025 season looming, how are you navigating the uncertainty of your future in Formula 1?
GZ: Well, to be honest, uncertainty is something I’ve become quite accustomed to. This isn’t the first time I’ve faced this situation. Each year, there’s a degree of uncertainty about what the next season will hold. So, in a way, it’s par for the course.
That’s a mature perspective. As a GZ, especially entering your prime years, one would think a more settled career path would be preferable. How has this uncertainty affected your approach to the current season?
GZ: It’s definitely influenced my priorities. I’ve focused solely on delivering strong performances on the track. The rest – contract negotiations, exploring options – I leave to my team. They’re working tirelessly behind the scenes to secure the best possible future for me.
Given the current landscape, have you considered alternative racing series if Formula 1 doesn’t pan out?
GZ: Formula 1 remains my primary focus. I believe I still have a good chance of staying here. That said, I haven’t given serious thought to other series yet. If the need arises, I’m sure opportunities will present themselves.
Let’s shift gears to the upcoming 2026 regulations. What are your thoughts on these changes, particularly in terms of their impact on the sport?
GZ: The regulations aim to make the cars more sustainable and competitive. However, there’s a trade-off: reduced downforce can lead to less exciting racing. It’s a balancing act. We’ll have to wait and see how it plays out.
Do you think these regulations will benefit street circuits, which often struggle with overtaking?
GZ: It’s a mixed bag. On one hand, the increased efficiency could make overtaking easier. On the other, the reduced downforce might make it harder to stay on the track during high-speed corners.

GZ: The car is more sensitive and less predictable than last year. It’s been a learning curve. However, tracks like this one, which are smoother, can help us understand our weaknesses and improve.
You’re known for your interest in fashion. Where does this passion come from?
GZ: It’s something I’ve always enjoyed. My mom was a designer, so perhaps it’s in my genes. Formula 1 offers a great platform to express my personality beyond the racing.
What do you look for in a fashion brand when collaborating with them?
GZ: Authenticity is key. I want to work with brands I genuinely admire and whose style aligns with my own. It’s about finding a good fit, both personally and professionally.
If given the opportunity to design your own fashion collection, what would it look like?
GZ: I’d aim for a blend of classic elegance and modern trends. Black is a staple in my wardrobe, so it would likely feature prominently. I’d also incorporate elements that reflect my passion for racing.

Is there anything you would never wear, no matter the occasion?
GZ: I’m pretty open-minded. I can’t think of anything I’d categorically refuse to wear.
Your relationship with your teammate, Valtteri Bottas, seems to be strong. What do you admire most about him?
GZ: Valtteri is a great teammate. He’s incredibly fast and has always been supportive. He’s taught me a lot, especially during my early days in Formula 1.
What’s the best advice he’s given you?
GZ: He’s emphasized the importance of staying calm and focused during races, especially when things get hectic.
Your documentary has been a huge success in China. Are you considering bringing it to a wider audience?
GZ: We’re exploring options for a European release. While the Chinese version was specifically tailored for that market, there’s interest in sharing it with a global audience.
