The Miami Heat are hopeful the tandem of Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro can lead the charge once Jimmy Butler departs or retires.
NBA analyst Kevin Pelton doesn’t share the same optimism, suggesting that Herro may have already peaked in his career.
According to Pelton, Herro’s development as a scorer has not met the Heat’s expectations, with his efficiency declining since winning Sixth Man of the Year.
Despite averaging a career-high 20.8 points last season, Herro’s shooting percentages suggest room for improvement.
Pelton also notes Herro’s struggle with injuries, limiting his availability and consistency on the court.
Pelton questions who will step up as the Heat’s best player if not Jimmy Butler, casting doubt on Herro’s potential to fill that role.
While Adebayo may currently hold that title, the Heat can thrive with Herro focusing on improving efficiency and playmaking rather than seeking All-Star status.
