NBA insider Chris Haynes has shared a funny anecdote about Draymond Green not allowing him to interview any Warriors players and accusing him of being a spy.
Haynes did not specify the exact time when this incident occurred, but it likely happened between 2015 and 2018, during the NBA Finals between the Warriors and Cavs for four consecutive seasons.
“I went into the locker room with the Warriors for the first time,” recounted Haynes on Jefe Island podcast. “Draymond was like, ‘I don’t trust you bro.’ I thought he was joking. He then said, ‘I don’t trust you bro.’ I asked, ‘What do you mean, you don’t trust me?’ He responded, ‘You’re a Cavs spy. LeBron James sent you here to spy on us. We’re not dealing with you, and I will make sure nobody talks to you.’ He was dead serious,” Haynes recalled.
“I’m just a reporter, bro. I didn’t mean any harm.”
During those memorable years, the Warriors clinched the championship in 2015, 2017, and 2018, while the Cavs secured their only title in 2016, thanks to LeBron James.
Green and LeBron were notably not on friendly terms on the basketball court during that time.
However, they have developed a strong friendship since 2019.
This period coincided with Draymond signing with Klutch Sports, the same agency that represents LeBron James and is owned by his friend Rich Paul.
Just recently, the two were seen hanging out together.
James shared a series of photos on Instagram, tagging Paul, Maverick Carter, and Green, with the caption, “Was one of those nights @money23green.”

Carter quickly shared the post with his caption, “@money23green would NOT stop playing all the hits.”
James then added, “He should be in jail for what he did.”
It wouldn’t be surprising to see Draymond end up playing for the Lakers before his career ends, given the strong bond he shares with LeBron.
