Part of “NBA Cares x Sands Cares Community Impact Week,” a “Her Time to Play” clinic was held Sunday at the NBA House, inviting NBA Legend Deron Williams (back row, centre-left) and WNBA player Myisha Hines-Allen (back row, centre-right) for a sports exchange with local female student basketball team players, as well as students and coaches from NBA Cares’ “Her Time to Play” initiative.

The final event of the NBA Cares x Sands Cares Community Impact Week wrapped up Sunday with the “Her Time to Play” basketball clinic at the NBA House in The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo Hall A.

The event, co-organised by NBA Cares and Sands Cares, marked a powerful conclusion to a week of community engagement coinciding with The NBA China Games 2025 at The Venetian Arena.

The clinic brought together NBA Legend Deron Williams and WNBA player Myisha Hines-Allen for an inspiring session with more than 30 young female basketball players from Pui Ching Middle School Macau and Keng Peng School, as well as students and coaches from NBA Cares’ “Her Time to Play” initiative.

Deron Williams lead over 30 female students from Pui Ching Middle School Macau and Keng Peng School, along with students from the “Her Time to Play” initiative at Sunday’s clinic.

Myisha Hines-Allen lead over 30 female students from Pui Ching Middle School Macau and Keng Peng School, along with students from the “Her Time to Play” initiative at Sunday’s clinic.

The two athletes shared valuable insights on skill development, teamwork, and perseverance, encouraging participants to pursue their ambitions both on and off the court.

The event included a hands-on basketball clinic, where Williams and Hines-Allen guided the young athletes through drills and strategies before an energetic five-on-five friendly skills challenge.

A lively halftime performance by a cheerleading team further elevated the atmosphere, celebrating the power of sports to unite and uplift.

To close the clinic, Hines-Allen, alongside Catherine Kong, vice president of corporate communications and community affairs for Sands China Ltd., and Sands Cares Ambassadors, distributed goodie bags prepared earlier in the week to all participants as tokens of encouragement and support.

Dr. Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd., said: “The NBA China Games 2025 coming to Macao for the first time has not only ignited a city-wide sports frenzy, but also brought diverse cultures together through basketball. The magic of sports is something that can be shared across borders and genders. We brought ‘Her Time to Play’ to the community so that NBA Legend Deron Williams and WNBA player Myisha Hines-Allen could help Macao’s young female athletes hone their basketball skills and inspire them to unleash their athletic and personal potential. This event is a perfect conclusion to the community impact week. Looking ahead, Sands China hopes to continue spreading care into every corner of the community through various sports events, while promoting the spirit of sports in Macao and encouraging young people to pursue their dreams and strive for excellence.”

Myisha Hines-Allen (back row, centre), Catherine Kong (back row, fifth from right), vice president of corporate communications and community affairs for Sands China Ltd. and Sands Cares Ambassadors distribute goodie bags prepared during the impact week’s tip-off event to students at the “Her Time to Play” clinic Sunday, closing out the “NBA Cares x Sands Cares Community Impact Week.” Each bag included a quick-dry towel, cordless jump rope, and an NBA blind box.

The five-day NBA Cares x Sands Cares Community Impact Week (Oct. 8–12) featured a series of outreach events alongside The NBA China Games 2025 at The Venetian Arena.

These included a exchanges with local schools, boxed lunch distribution to the community, and a community basketball carnival.

All these initiatives form part of the Sands Cares global corporate citizenship programme, illustrating Sands China’s long-term dedication to community engagement and empowerment through sports and education.
