Jimmy Butler has been living a very eventful life since his 7-game suspension began. He’s been playing poker, trying his hand at soccer, fangirling over David Beckham, working at his coffee shop, and who knows what else. However, amidst all the distractions, something serious is brewing. It could be the reason behind Pat Riley’s tough stance towards his star player. While Butler is busy training with Satou Sabally, a former Miami Heat player has revealed some insider information.
Tim Hardaway Sr., who played for the Miami Heat from 1996-2001, shared his perspective on the situation between Butler and the franchise. In an interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio, the 58-year-old basketball legend stated: “You don’t disrespect authority, and that’s what Jimmy Butler has been doing. And I tell you this, Pat Riley, this boat is going to sail on top of the water as long as Pat Riley’s there. Jimmy Butler’s trying to sink that ship. That ship is not going to sink. I’m all with Pat Riley.”
In simple terms, Jimmy Butler is currently a contracted player who is pushing boundaries and behaving rebelliously. Tim Hardaway Sr. believes that Butler’s actions are an attempt to sabotage the team. Despite having the option of a $52 million deal with the team, Butler is challenging the organization. Hardaway Sr. also highlighted Butler’s lack of acceptance to hearing “No” as a response, creating tension within the team.
