Netball Scotland Confirm Coaching Set-up
Thistle #158 Lesley MacDonald appointed Specialist Coach for Celtic Cup.
Netball Scotland and the Scottish Thistles are pleased to announce Scottish Thistle #158 Lesley MacDonald, who hails from Fife, Scotland will join the coaching structure for the upcoming Celtic Cup 2024 competition.
The Celtic Cup will see the Scottish Thistles host the four-day competition against Zimbabwe and Celtic rivals Wales and Northern Ireland between the 7 – 11 November at the Emirates Arena

MacDonald who is a Scottish international centurion with 120 playing caps (1999-2015), including appearances at four World Cups, and also has been a distinguished coach of the Netball Scotland pathways for over ten years.
Thistles Head Coach, Kath Tetley said that MacDonald has been a critical support and leader for the Thistles players and program since the 2023 Netball World Cup campaign.
“Lesley has shown incredible leadership and passion in supporting the Scottish Thistles program in the past months, has wonderful coaching experience and knowledge of the environment – and an innate understanding of the international playing stage being a former player.
“I am thrilled that she will join us as a Specialist Coach for the Celtic Cup. The staff are looking to evolve, challenge and grow the squad through this campaign as we embark on the next cycle of international netball, which includes home Test Matches, a home Commonwealth Games and our focus on qualifying for NWC2027 in Sydney.”
MacDonald added: “I am very grateful for the opportunity to be part of the thistle journey for this Celtic Cup campaign.
“Kath has come in with a very clear ambition of where and how she wants to evolve and grow this squad therefore it’s exciting to be part of this event.”
At the conclusion of the Celtic Cup campaign, Netball Scotland will be conducting a broad recruitment for the Thistles’ full High Performance Coaching Structure for the remainder of the 24/25 international calendar and looking towards 2026 and 2027 seasons.
