Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu believes that running a testing program with an old Formula 1 car will help strengthen the team’s personnel.
Haas has partnered with Toyota Gazoo Racing to receive manufacturing support and set up a new simulator. As part of the agreement, Toyota personnel will assist Haas in running a Testing of Previous Car (TPC) program, which Komatsu thinks will have a significant impact on the team.
“TPC is crucial for training our personnel,” said Komatsu. “With just over 300 employees, it’s essential to have a contingency plan in case of personnel changes. The program will help us train engineers, mechanics, and have backup personnel.”

“We are always on the limit, and to improve the organization, we need to build our capacity. TPC will help train our personnel and prepare for any challenges, especially with the budget cap affecting our operations.”
Komatsu mentioned that Toyota young drivers will participate in driving during TPC running, but currently, there are no plans to integrate Toyota Gazoo Racing personnel into the race team.
“While we are not currently incorporating TGR personnel into the race team, we are collaborating on the TPC program. This collaboration will help us develop our personnel and provide the necessary support.”
Overall, the partnership with Toyota Gazoo Racing will enable Haas to enhance its training programs and build a stronger organization for the future.
