New video gives a peek into Angel Reese’s wrist injury progress

With three weeks to go until training camp begins, it looks like Angel Reese will be in good shape ahead of the 2025 WNBA season.

Chicago Tribune reporter Julia Poe shared the news on X, where she posted a video of Reese training with Iren Rainey, an NBA/WNBA development specialist.

Angel Reese back in the gym and out of that hand brace today.

She was ruled out of the final weekend of Unrivaled with a hand injury. Has been wearing a brace in all public appearances for the past three weeks.

“Angel Reese back in the gym and out of that hand brace today,” Poe wrote on that platform. “She was ruled out of the final weekend of Unrivaled with a hand injury. Has been wearing a brace in all public appearances for the past three weeks. Good sign for Angel less than three weeks out from training camp.”

Reese’s wrist injury dates back to the 2024 WNBA season, when she injured her hand ahead of the playoffs, something that all but sealed the Sky’s fate. Reese again hurt her wrist and hand during Unrivaled’s regular season finale this year; though she hit 10 points and 13 rebounds, she only played 13 minutes of the game and was clutching her left wrist as she walked off the court.

The 8-second clip shared by Poe was originally posted to Rainey’s Instagram Stories and definitely has fans excited about seeing Reese hit the court again.

Rainey has plenty of experience with both NBA and WNBA athletes. In a 2021 interview with Orlando Voyager, he shared his history in basketball and noted that at the time he worked with around 25 NBA athletes. It’s unclear where Rainey and Reese initially connected, but he shared a few videos from Unrivaled throughout the 2025 season on Instagram.
