The odds, at least for now, appear to be in New York’s favor. The Liberty check in as the early favorites to defend their title, according to DraftKings Sportsbook via Fox Sports.
New York is a +230 favorite to win the WNBA title, as of May 5. Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, along with the Las Vegas Aces, are listed at +350. The Minnesota Lynx check in at +380. No one team is below +1800.
The Liberty certainly have history and talent on their side. New York has done 32-8 in each of the last two regular seasons, and earned the No. 1 seed in last year’s postseason. The Liberty knocked off Atlanta Dream (2-0) and Las Vegas (3-1) en route to the WNBA Finals before going the distance to dispatch the Lynx (3-2).
New York returns its scoring, rebound and assist leaders in Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones and Sabrina Ionescu, respectively, as well as most of the supporting cast. The Liberty are in solid position to repeat as WNBA champs, just as the Aces did in 2022-23.
