New York Liberty broke the record for the most 3-pointers with final 3-pointer with 1:45 left in the game.

New York Liberty have started their title defense in style with a second straight victory in the 2025 WNBA season. The reigning champions outclassed Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky 99-74 on Friday night and also set a league history.
It was a ruthless shooting from the Liberty as they outscored the Sky 25-9 in the second quarter to built a 21-point lead at halftime. New York, who 4-of-21 from 3-point range in the season-opener, improved the shooting with a WNBA record. Five Liberty players reached in double figure.

New York Liberty Breaks WNBA Record for Most Threes in a Single Game
New York Liberty set a new record for most 3-pointers in a single game in the WNBA. The defending champions made 19 three-pointers in the game to surpass the previous record. They also surpassed their own record of 18 3-pointers set against the Aces and the Mercury in 2022 and 2024, respectively.
With less than 6 minutes to go, Kennedy Burke made her team’s 18th 3-pointer and tied the 3-point record. Later, the reigning winners broke the record for the most 3-pointers with final 3-pointer with 1:45 left in the game.
The Liberty shot 19-of-34 (55.9 percent) from the three-point range against the Sky. Their four starters made at least two three-pointers in the game, with Jonquel Jones and Natasha Cloud with three and four made threes, respectively. It was an improved performance for New York after going 40.7 percent from the three-point line against the Aces.
Natasha Cloud scored 18 points and Kennedy Burke, who dropped 19th 3-pointer for the record, chipped in 17 points off the bench. Sabrina Ionescu added 16 points and Breanna Stewart had 12. Burke went 4-of-4 and Cloud went 4-for-5 from three-point range. For the Sky, Angel Reese managed just 2 points with 12 rebounds.
With an early first-half lead, Liberty stormed past the Chicago Sky for their second straight victory. The defending champions will take on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Saturday, May 24.
