The Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams could’ve perhaps been Game 272 and the Sunday Night Football finale just a few weeks ago. It could’ve been for the NFC West title. Hell, it could’ve been for the NFC West title had the Arizona Cardinals not thrown an interception at the goal line on Saturday night. Could’ve been for the NFC West title if the Seahawks had beaten the Rams in the first meeting.
None of that happened, and the Seahawks are now officially eliminated from the playoffs.
The NFL’s Week 18 schedule revealed that the Seahawks will play the Rams on regional television at 1:25 pm PT on Sunday, Jan. 5 live on FOX. No national television on Sunday night, no national television on Saturday night, nothing. The only reason the Rams would play their starters for a full game is to clinch the No. 3 seed over the No. 4 seed, which could potentially mean hosting an extra home playoff game if the No. 2 seed loses in the first round. This happened to the Detroit Lions last season when the Dallas Cowboys were bounced by the No. 7 seed Green Bay Packers. I doubt Sean McVay gives a hoot.
Anyway, it’s still a chance to watch your favorite team one last time. We’ll still cover it like a normal game, and we hope you join us.
While you’re here, check out the rest of the Week 18 lineup.
