Nneka Ogwumike is expected to sign a deal back with the Seattle Storm, first reported by Chiney Ogwumike of ESPN. Ogwumike left the Los Angeles Sparks for the Seattle Storm in 2024 after playing over a decade in the City of Angels. In her first year with the Storm, Ogwumike averaged 16.7 PPG, 7.6 RPG, and 2.3 APG while shooting 51.1 in field-goal percentage.

Ogwumike joined Skylar Digigns-Smith in Seattle to compete alongside Jewell Loyd last season, and expectations for their success were aimed high. Loyd, Ogwumike, and Diggins-Smith were excited to get to work, and with Noell Quinn onboard the sky was the limit for this budding team. However, the franchise’s roster construction was not reminiscent of its championship years and bench production was a major setback. Furthermore, conflicts within the locker room and between players and the front office further hindered the team’s playoff and overall success.
While the Storm still have a few decisions to make during 2025 free agency, Ogwumike still has her sights set on competing for a championship—and she’s looking to do it in Emerald City alongside Diggins-Smith and Ezi Magbegor. She’s still performing at a high level: recording sixth in her all-time career PPG and tying her fifth-most career RPG last season. Ogwumike has never averaged less than 51.0 in field-goal percentage in her career, and don’t expect her to slow down or stop now as she enters year 14. Her game is to be effective and efficient, and always putting her team in a position to win.
