GLVC Championship Central
McKendree and Maryville faced off for the second time this year as both fought for its right to play in the championship game with both teams looking to help their postseason case in the process. The Bearcats shifted their attack style to utilize an important virtue in patience with Maryville holding a shot advantage in the game overall. The first half came and went with the Bearcats putting just two shots up and the Saints firing 12 but Baker held off the best of those attempts as she amassed four saves in the first 45 minutes. McKendree and the Saints then went to war in the latter 45 minutes as McKendree blasted four shots with two on-frame and their defense saw 10 more shots from Maryville while Baker added two more saves.
Regulation came to a close with the score locked at nil-nil. Overtime had both squads building up to chances and locating possible strikes but the break came through for the Bearcats after McKendree went for a pair of corner kicks. On a cross, the ball found the foot of Rogan, who blasted a bicycle kick first before retrieving her own rebound for a second strike, which found the back of the net for the victory and celebratory dogpile.
McKendree looks to grab the GLVC Tournament title again this year and would lock in the automatic bid in the process if the No.19 Bearcats claim the league crown. This is the third-straight championship appearance for McKendree and seventh overall.
