This could be you, or maybe you over there, or maybe them, a friend? Or a cool athlete you think rocks out there! Or…

So, if you know a Chicago-based athlete that deserves to be recognized, please fill out all the information on our website to nominate them for an Athlete of the Month Award. Have more info, feel free to message us too! Nominate as many as you like!

These awards are given out each month to a local athlete who shows not only superior fitness & dedication, but also helps the community & strives to further the education of health & fitness!

Chicago Athlete Magazine used to have an athlete of the month and year way back when…then the magazine moved to a digital format, then new ownership, we had a pandemic and no races so we all had book clubs and sourdough starters. And so it goes…Now here we are!

Let’s do this! 35 years of Chicago Athlete and this year we are celebrating you…all year, and ever after!

Then, just wait until the end of the year and see what happens then!

Yes—you, your training buddy, your teammate, that inspiring runner you see on the lakefront at sunrise, or that triathlete who’s always cheering everyone on at the finish line. Know someone amazing? Nominate them!

We’re celebrating athletes across Chicagoland who not only crush their goals in sport but also show up for their communities, inspire others, and embody the spirit of health, fitness, and kindness. Whether they’re fast, fierce, or simply full of heart—we want to hear about them. You don’t have to be someone that breaks records or even comes close. No need to win the race, or even compete in a race! Maybe its yoga, karate, cross-fit, or something else!

This tradition goes way back: Chicago Athlete Magazine once proudly featured an Athlete of the Month and even Athlete of the Year… then we went digital, changed hands, survived a pandemic, fed our sourdough starters (and named them!), started book clubs, and waited. But now? Now we’re bringing back this feature—and stronger than ever.

This is the year we celebrate YOU.

35 years of Chicago Athlete Magazine, and we’re using it to spotlight the heart and hustle of this community—all year long, and beyond.
