The Chicago Sky is in dire need of shot creation after trading Marina Mabrey to the Connecticut Sun for Rachel Banham, Moriah Jefferson, and two first-round picks, leaving them struggling in their recent game against the Phoenix Mercury.
Brittney Griner dominated the game, while Kahleah Copper shined on offense. The Sky starters struggled to convert baskets, conceding a high percentage of attempts to their opponents.
Moving forward, the Sky must get more production from Kamilla Cardoso to support the team. Cardoso’s playing time should increase as she becomes a key player in setting screens and creating opportunities for her teammates.
Despite her strengths, Cardoso needs to work on improving ball security and converting more scoring opportunities. Her size advantage and post-game make her a force to be reckoned with, but her rim finishing and strength need improvement.
Defensively, Cardoso excels in protecting the back line and disrupting opponents’ shots. However, she needs to avoid falling for fakes and stay grounded against skilled opponents.
With a few games left in the season, the Sky have a chance to secure a playoff spot and provide valuable experience for Cardoso’s development.
