Esteban Ocon recently visited Williams’ F1 factory in Grove for a seat fitting, according to reports.
It is reported that the departing Alpine driver is set to sign a contract with Haas for 2025 and beyond, with an announcement expected before the Belgian GP.
Rumours surfaced that Williams asked Ocon to consider leaving Alpine early to race in Logan Sargeant’s car for the remainder of 2024. However, Alpine reportedly blocked the move due to concerns about the Albon-Ocon pairing posing a threat in the constructors’ championship.
Ocon confirmed his visit to Williams for a test a few weeks ago to assess how he felt in the car, especially considering his tall stature. He expressed confidence in staying in Formula 1 and finishing the season with Alpine while discussions with other teams are ongoing.
Alpine refuted claims of Ocon leaving before the season end, with reports suggesting a higher likelihood of him driving for Haas next year.
Ocon mentioned positive discussions with teams and emphasized his commitment to finishing the season with Alpine before potentially moving on. He expressed confidence in remaining on the grid for the next few years.
