During the final day of the Democratic National Convention at the United Center in Chicago, Stephen Curry surprised everyone with a video message endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for the upcoming Presidential election. His speech resonated with many Americans, including his Godsister and WNBA star Cameron Brink.
The audience at the United Center applauded Curry’s surprise appearance at the DNC. The Warriors superstar was seen wearing his gold medal from the Paris Olympics in the recording.
In explaining his support for Harris, the four-time NBA champion stated,
“Together, we can achieve great things and continue to inspire the world. That’s why I believe Kamala, as president, could bring unity back and move our country forward. I had the opportunity to visit Kamala at the White House last year, and I can confidently say that she belongs in the Oval Office.”
Brink echoed Curry’s powerful message by sharing his speech from the DNC on her Instagram stories.
Although Curry was not physically present at the DNC, his video message had a significant impact. This wasn’t the first time his influence was felt at the event.
Steve Kerr referenced Curry’s iconic celebration in his speech
Recently, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr also made a surprise appearance at the DNC to endorse Harris for the presidency. Kerr acknowledged that his presence might not sit well with some fans but felt compelled to speak up given the importance of the election.
During his speech, he likened Harris and her running mate Tim Walz to Team USA, emphasizing the importance of leadership they would bring to the country.
“The joy, compassion, and commitment to our country that we witnessed at the Olympics is what Kamala Harris and Tim Walz embody. This is what our country needs. Genuine leadership.”
In his closing statements, Kerr used Curry’s signature ‘night-night’ celebration to send a message to Donald Trump, the Republican candidate.
“After the Election Night results are in, we can, as Steph Curry would say, tell Donald Trump, ‘Night, night!'”
“In the words of the great Steph Curry, we can tell Donald Trump… night night!”
