Tyrese Haliburton and Caitlin Clark are two rising basketball stars in Indianapolis. During the last WNBA season, these young talents have built a strong friendship.
Haliburton, who is in his third season with the NBA’s Indiana Pacers, attended several Indiana Fever games over the summer. He was part of a record-breaking fan base that broke attendance records across the league in 2024.
As a young star in Indianapolis, Haliburton mentioned that he and Clark have become close friends over the past six months. Much of this friendship is attributed to Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, who was part of the Pacers’ staff during the 2023-24 season.
“I developed a close bond with Connor McCaffery during his internship with us last year,” Haliburton explained. “And through that, I’ve also become close with Caitlin and him. The four of us—me, him, her, and my girlfriend Jade—have a group chat where we discuss everything regularly.”
It’s worth noting that both of them attended college in Iowa. Haliburton excelled at Iowa State University, while Clark made waves in the NCAA at the University of Iowa. There are several connections between the two.
“Everyone wants to gain more from her, take advantage of her talents,” Haliburton noted. “I don’t want to be that. We’re friends.”
Haliburton clarified that this wasn’t his first year attending Fever games, as he also went to several matches last year. He finds it enjoyable to witness the growing interest in the WNBA team in Indianapolis.
“Seeing the rise of women’s basketball, especially with the Fever right in my backyard, has been fascinating,” Haliburton remarked. “I made sure to attend as many games as possible.”
The Fever concluded the regular season with a 20-20 record and made it to the WNBA Playoffs for the first time since 2016. Meanwhile, the Pacers are gearing up for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season, set to commence later this month.
