Paige Bueckers is on track to become the WNBA’s No. 1 overall pick, much like Caitlin Clark.
This college standout will be debuting her own signature shoe, the Zoom GT Hustle 3 from Nike, in December.
Bueckers’ unique design will have a price tag of $190.
Nike is putting its weight behind women’s basketball, recently awarding Clark a lucrative $28 million deal in April.
However, UConn star Bueckers, who inked a deal with Nike in 2023, is beating her to the punch with her shoe release.
Clark is anticipated to introduce her own sneaker before the start of the 2025 WNBA season.
Bueckers, who made history as the sole freshman to win the AP Player of the Year Award in 2021, has faced setbacks in her NCAA career due to injuries.
Nevertheless, the 23-year-old Huskies guard has made a strong comeback and is the first college basketball player to have her own shoe line.
She is expected to join the Dallas Wings following the team’s No.1 pick in the WNBA Lottery.
After breaking the all-time NCAA scoring record, Clark has maintained her star status in the WNBA by leading the Indiana Fever to the playoffs.
She reportedly turned down a six-figure offer to join the Unrivaled league in order to maximize her offseason.
The former Iowa guard, now 22, is also considering a transition into soccer.
Clark has recently joined an investor group aiming to bring a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team to Cincinnati.
This bid, spearheaded by FC Cincinnati, could amount to $100 million.
“The NWSL Cincinnati bid team is thrilled that Caitlin Clark has joined our ownership group in pursuit of bringing a women’s professional soccer team to our city,” Cincinnati officials stated.
“Her dedication to the sport, commitment to advancing women’s athletics in and around the Greater Cincinnati area, and influence as an athlete and role model for women and girls globally, make her an essential part of our compelling bid to become the 16th team in the NWSL.”
Cincinnati is in competition with Cleveland, Denver, Nashville, and Philadelphia.
Additionally, Clark has been hitting the golf course, recently participating in the GA Tour’s RSM Classic pro-am alongside PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and 2023 Ryder Cup Captain Zach Johnson on Sea Island’s Plantation Course.
Clark was accompanied by seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady and former NFL MVP Matt Ryan.
“Pretty incredible what she’s done in her sport and what she’s done for sport and what she’s doing for golf,” commented Davis Love III, the tournament host, regarding Clark.
“I haven’t played with her or seen her play, so hopefully, she continues to grow in her game,” he added.
Johnson, who played with Clark at the 2023 John Deere Classic, mentioned noticing improvement in her golf skills.
“She’s a competitor before she is anything else. I witnessed it a year-and-a-half ago when we played but I’ve also witnessed that she’s gotten better. She’s working on her game,” Johnson noted.
“It’s a hard game, and it’s not her number one priority, obviously, nor should it be. But she’s amazing. She’s amazing on the court and off.”
