Patrick and Brittany Mahomes are in talks over bringing a WNBA team to Kansas City, according to reports.
The Chiefs quarterback is already part of the ownership group of the Royals (MLB) Sporting Kansas City (MLS), the Kansas City Current (NWSL) and an investor in the Alpine Formula One team.
Now, ESPN reports, the WNBA is in talks with Mahomes – and other Current executives – regarding a new franchise in the city.
The WNBA is riding the crest of a wave following the emergence of superstars including Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.
The league enjoyed record-breaking viewership during the 2024 season, which was recently won by the New York Liberty.

The 12-team league is set to expand over the coming years, with teams in San Francisco, Toronto and Portland set to join by 2026.
WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert is eyeing a 16th team by 2028 and Kansas City chiefs are keen for a slice of the pie.
‘Kansas City is a perfect place to support a WNBA team,’ Kathy Nelson, head of the KC Sports Commission and VisitKC, said recently.
Mahomes has reportedly also expressed an interest in bringing an NBA team to Kansas City.
