Paul George reminisced about a humorous story from his teenage years that he believes played a role in his NBA career.
In pursuit of his dream of becoming an NBA player, Paul turned to God for assistance.
He came across a TV advertisement offering a sample of holy water that could be delivered to your home for blessings whenever needed.
So, PG-13 decided to give it a shot.
“I don’t think my parents know about me ordering holy water. I was probably around 15-16 years old when I saw this infomercial about people experiencing divine encounters from this holy water you could order,” George shared on Podcast P With Paul George. “I watched it and thought, ‘Why not give it a try?’
“A couple of weeks later, I received a small sample of holy water. I remember praying and sprinkling the holy water on myself, thinking, ‘What’s the worst that could happen?’ My prayer was simple: ‘I just want to be an NBA player. I want to be the best basketball player I can be.’ And it seems like it worked.”
Fast forward four years, PG was drafted by the Indiana Pacers as the 10th overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft.
While it wasn’t the holy water that propelled him to become one of the most skilled NBA players in history, it was his raw talent.
This season, George will be joining the 76ers with hopes of securing that elusive NBA championship before his career comes to an end.
Undoubtedly, he will create a formidable trio with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey in Philadelphia, both also in search of their first championship.
