Jared Goff made NFL history with a perfect game, completing all 18 of his passes to lead the Detroit Lions to a 42-29 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night.
During the game, Goff said, “It’s good when the ball doesn’t hit the ground… I was trying to remember if I had an incompletion and I couldn’t quite tell but I knew I had a chance.”
Goff also made history with a touchdown reception for the first time in his career, catching a pass from Amon-Ra St Brown. He and St Brown became the eighth duo in league history to throw and catch a touchdown from each other. St Brown also threw a pass to Goff on a trick play in the third quarter, and caught a touchdown from Goff in the fourth.
Goff threw for 292 yards and completed his first 14 passes in Detroit’s previous win at Arizona. He also connected with Jameson Williams for a 70-yard touchdown in the third quarter.
The Seahawks (3-1) struggled to stop the Lions offensively, leading to their first loss of the season.
In the other game on Monday, Mason Rudolph stepped in for the injured Will Levis and led the Tennessee Titans to a 31-12 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Rudolph threw for 85 yards and completed 9 of 17 passes.
Nick Folk kicked five field goals for the Titans, who secured their first win of the season. Tyjae Spears scored a touchdown on a direct snap, while Tony Pollard ran for a touchdown and gained 88 yards on 22 carries.
Tyler Huntley, filling in for the injured Tua Tagovailoa, scored a touchdown for the Dolphins and threw for 96 yards.
Huntley’s efforts were not enough as the Dolphins fell to the Titans, who capitalized on their offensive opportunities.
