Phoenix Mercury guard Kahleah Copper has been eagerly anticipating this year’s WNBA All-Star Weekend for quite some time.
2024 will not be Copper’s first time at the All-Star Game – she has been an All-Star for four consecutive seasons. This weekend is not expected to be Copper’s most significant individual achievement so far, considering she won the Finals MVP as part of the 2021 WNBA Champion Chicago Sky. Additionally, playing in the All-Star Game in her home arena for the first time was in Chicago in 2022.
However, this All-Star Weekend is unique for Copper as an Olympian, a title she has been working towards since missing out on the Tokyo Games in August 2021. From that point on, she has been determined to earn a spot on the 2024 Paris Olympic squad.
She shared in an interview, “I wouldn’t change my process for anything. I am grateful for it and it has definitely prepared me. It is a testament to my work ethic and persistence towards my goals.”
Originally from North Philadelphia, Copper is a firm believer in manifesting her goals, speaking them into existence, and displaying them prominently as reminders at home.
With her focus now on Team USA and the upcoming Olympics, Copper acknowledges the importance of team chemistry and preparation for the competition ahead.
Transitioning to the Mercury this season, Copper has adapted well to the team and is having a successful season statistically, leading the team in scoring.
For Copper, the All-Star Weekend offers a chance to connect with Phoenix fans and share her journey from a young basketball fan to a professional player.
Ultimately, Copper’s main focus remains on winning, with the goal of capturing an Olympic gold medal in Paris.
