Formula One’s American outfit Haas is using the time between the British and the Hungarian Grands Prix to assist Pirelli to an in-season tyre development test.
Following the British Grand Prix, Pirelli and Haas stayed at Silverstone to perform an in-season tyre test. The programme runs over two days, from Tuesday to Wednesday.
This test follows a series of runs Pirelli has conducted so far this year with Barcelona, Jerez de la Frontera, Suzuka, Paul Ricard, and Mugello having staged in-season tyre development testing.
Completing the sixth on-track tyre development work of 2025, the aim of the latest in-season test is to assess the changes Pirelli aims to make to the constructions and compounds for their 2025 F1 tyres.
The first day of testing saw development driver Pietro Fittipaldi get behind the wheel of the VF-24. The Brazilian’s day was heavily interrupted by rain showers. Although he could carry out a series of runs, his outing was restricted to Pirelli’s intermediate and wet-weather tyres.
Speaking of his day with Haas, Fittipaldi noted: “At Silverstone, we completed 62 laps. It was wet for most of the day, so we ran the wet and intermediate tyres.
“(It was) an important test for Pirelli and for the team as well, just trying the different compounds and constructions of the tyres for the 2025 season.
“To run a Formula One car in the rain, it’s always a blast, you know to get a car slide around, thousand horsepower, is pretty cool.
“It was awesome to keep helping and supporting the team in the development, and (I am) looking forward to the rest of the season with Haas,” conlucded Fittipaldi.
Pirelli’s two-day tyre testing is set to continue tomorrow with Ferrari and Haas reserve driver Oliver Bearman due to get behind the wheel of the Vf-24.
Even a wet Silverstone can’t stop Pietro from smiling 😁
