Tonight’s UFC Tampa event featured a crucial welterweight match between Joaquin Buckley and Colby Covington.

Colby Covington and Joaquin Buckley

Buckley (24-3 MMA) entered the contest on a five-fight win streak, with his most recent victory coming from a knockout of Stephen Thompson in Salt Lake City last October. ‘New Mansa’ had an impressive 9-1 record in his last ten UFC fights prior to this event.

On the other hand, Colby Covington (17-5 MMA) was making his return after a loss to Leon Edwards last December. He had previously defeated Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272 before the setback.

The UFC Tampa main event was a close battle. Buckley had the edge standing up, while Covington had some success on the ground. Unfortunately, Covington suffered a bad cut to his eye in round three, leading to the doctor stopping the fight.
