The Singapore GP qualifying kept us on the edge of our seats until the last second. Unfortunately, part of the drama was due to Ferrari, with the red flag shown in Q3 following Sainz’s crash into the wall at the final corner while preparing for his flying lap. Regarding performances, the fact that Norris, Verstappen, Leclerc, Russell, and Hamilton had no time set at the start of their final attempt added to the suspense, but it ended badly for Ferrari fans.
Lando will start from pole, followed by Max. Charles Leclerc is only ninth due to an error in turn 2, which resulted in his time being deleted for exceeding track limits. It wasn’t much of a loss, as the time he set would have placed him in P7 behind Hulkenberg (here are the reasons for the disappointment). Carlos Sainz, meanwhile, had a rough afternoon. Besides the crash, the FIA opened investigations on him for not following the race director’s instructions, resulting in a reprimand, and for crossing the track without authorization, which led to a €25,000 fine.
The provisional grid for the Singapore GPCarlos Sainz is currently in tenth on the grid, but the crash caused significant damage, especially to the rear of the SF-24. If, after further analysis, the technicians find damage to the gearbox, starting from the pit lane could be considered. Therefore, the starting lineup we provide is provisional for the Marina Bay GP. The formation lap is scheduled for Sunday, September 22, at 14:00 CET.
Why do we call it a provisional grid? This is because team technicians might still discover problems with the cars before tomorrow’s race, and if a component subject to regulatory constraints needs replacing, the Federation would be forced to drop the driver of that car several grid positions.
