Wide receiver Randall Cobb and his family had a lucky escape from a fire at their home in Nashville, Tennessee. Randall Cobb’s wife, Aiyda, shared on Instagram that they are grateful to be alive.
Aiyda Cobb revealed on her Instagram story that a Tesla charger in their garage caught fire and quickly spread through their home.
She mentioned, “We managed to escape the house with only the clothes on our backs and no shoes on our feet.”
The Cobbs have three young sons.
In a joint statement posted on Instagram, Randall Cobb shared on Wednesday that he was able to rescue their dog, Louie, from the house.
Cobb expressed his gratitude to the Nashville Fire Department for their quick response.
He added, “I can’t forget the image of the courageous firefighter preparing himself; he didn’t even have water to use yet. I was fearful that the cars would explode, and we might lose him. He is a genuine hero.”
“Though we are uncertain about what can be salvaged, if anything, this incident reminded us that nothing is more important than our family’s well-being,” Cobb stated.
“We appreciate the support from our Nashville community, as well as our close friends who have provided us with temporary shelter and emotional support.”
The Instagram post includes videos showing the burnt cars and the extensive fire damage in the garage.
At 33 years old, Randall Cobb played for the New York Jets last season and is currently a free agent. He spent most of his career with the Green Bay Packers, ranking fifth in receptions (532), tenth in touchdown receptions (47), and eleventh in receiving yards (6,316) in franchise history.
