Manchester United cruised to a 3-0 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.
During a eventful first half, Southampton had an opportunity to take the lead with a penalty at the 30-minute mark.
Tyler Dibling outmaneuvered left-back Diogo Dalot and was fouled in the box, leading to Cameron Archer having a chance to score.
However, Andre Onana saved the penalty and shortly after, Manchester United took the lead.
Matthijs de Ligt headed in a cross from Bruno Fernandes on the edge of the box, punishing Southampton for not marking the Red Devils captain.
Just before half-time, Marcus Rashford scored his first goal since March, extending the lead to 2-0.

Rashford scored by shooting through multiple defenders and beating Aaron Ramsdale.
Southampton’s captain Jack Stephens received a red card for a reckless challenge on Alejandro Garnacho, sealing his team’s fate in the match.
Garnacho added United’s third goal in the final moments, further adding to Southampton’s misery and marking a strong comeback for the visitors following their loss to Brighton before the international break.

There were more chances for Southampton, but they failed to convert, including a missed penalty by Archer.

Manchester United capitalized on Southampton’s missed penalty with goals from De Ligt and Rashford, leading to a 2-0 advantage by half-time.

Stephens’ red card further hindered Southampton’s chances, allowing Manchester United to secure a comfortable win.
